Heavy metal contamination of Batanghari River, Jambi, Indonesia: determination based on sediment enrichment factor value

نویسندگان

چکیده

Batanghari River is the primary source of water for people Jambi. River’s condition nowadays worrying because its color no longer clear. This research focused on determining content heavy metals in River's and sediment. The conducted analysis an ICP-MS to determine level metal (Cu, Cr, Co, Cd, Hg), enrichment factor calculation pollution. value from sediment sample declined with following sequence Cd>Hg>Cu>Cr>Co, 10 pinpoint locations. These indicate a high degree anthropogenic activities along which become entering River. average concentration showed that concentrations Cu, Hg are higher than quality standards have been set, whereas Cr Co still by set PP 22 year 2021.

Heavy metal contamination in surface sediments of four important rivers leading to the Caspian Sea

Heavy metals tend to be adsorbed and accumulated in sediments as opposed to water or suspended solids. Sediments and biota bodis can act as a final sink for heavy metals in the aquatic environments. They accumulate through the food chain posing potential biological and ecological risks. Therefore, research on the heavy metal concentrations in aquatic ecosystems can help to protect human health ...

Hazards of heavy metal contamination.

The main threats to human health from heavy metals are associated with exposure to lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic. These metals have been extensively studied and their effects on human health regularly reviewed by international bodies such as the WHO. Heavy metals have been used by humans for thousands of years. Although several adverse health effects of heavy metals have been known for a l...
